Alex and Carlo’s wedding day at Villa Medicea di Lilliano in Tuscany was a dream come true. Ever since I became a wedding photographer, the number one destination I hoped to book a wedding in someday was Italy, and I couldn’t imagine a better couple and day to bring this dream to life.

Almost two years before their wedding day, I took Alex and Carlo’s engagement photos in Chicago. I remember after we were done shooting we just hung out at North Ave watching the city lights come on and talking about life (Carlo’s restaurant, what they thought their wedding plans might end up being, and everything in between). What an absolute joy it was to be brought on board to those wedding plans.

Alex put so much time, energy, and LOVE into the details of their day, and when Tuscany decided to rain on and off almost their entire wedding day and night, the thing that was most obvious to me was that she wasn’t disappointed that her exact vision wasn’t coming to life for herself and for Carlo—it was for their guests who she wanted to provide a memorable experience in Italy for. That’s just the kind of person she is: caring, thoughtful, and just so kind. And to see the way Carlo took the rain in stride while also being there to validate any sad feelings, to hold her hand while we out-waited the rain to see if their ceremony could happen outside, and to carry or adjust her dress throughout the day (including at the end of the aisle :,)) was just further proof that they’re such a perfect pair that were meant to find each other.
