Ahhhh I’m finally posting Alia and Seth’s wedding photos from their beautiful wedding day back in September at The Barn in Wellman, Iowa (just a good three months later!!). My crazy busy season for weddings this year was September through early December and I always want to get couples their galleries ASAP over staying up to date on blogging, so this was put on the back burner for a while even though I’ve been dying to share them!! So now that things are slowing down, IT IS TIME!

May I first say that of all the weddings I’ve ever shot, this was the one that felt most like what I want for my own wedding: unique, laid back, personal to them and filled with good beer, all the earthy tones and huge homemade bouquets (that included branches of leaves from a tree outside the courthouse where they got their wedding license! How neat is that?)! Their day was filled with so many unique details and touches that I can only hope I captured in my photos. Alia is an artist (check out her work at @aliamunleystudio on Instagram!) so their earthy rainbow color palette was PERFECT for their siblings slash wedding party to rock. I love that they broke away from the typical all girls on the bride’s side and all guys on the groom’s side tradition and each had their siblings on their own side instead—Alia with her two sisters and two brothers and Seth with his two sisters and cousin, an honorary sister!! One of my favorite photos of the day is the photo of Alia’s siblings smiling so freaking big as her mom and dad walked her down the aisle (I also loved that she had them both walk her down because I plan to do the same!!). As only an artist could pull off, Alia even got all her closest friends to wear colors to match the earthy rainbow color scheme for an epic group photo after the ceremony. I don’t know if I’ll ever take such an aesthetically pleasing group photo again!!

Alia and Seth also love good beer (er, craft beer) and had a friend brew a special batch just for the wedding called Harvest Moon 🌙 which was so fitting for their September 14th wedding on the night of the harvest moon! Their first dance song was of course Harvest Moon by Neil Young to match. Other special details were their florals that were picked from Seth’s parents house down the road, his sister played music during the cocktail hour, and Alia designed the invites/programs/signs herself!

Scroll on down to check out all these amazing details and Alia beating Seth in a beer chug!

“Highly recommend Marissa for any photography needs 🙂 she is so talented and down to earth. My (now) husband and I have really enjoyed feeling like super models and looking through our awesome wedding photos. She was patient with the craziness of the day (and last minute photo changes) and made both of us feel calm and in control. The photos really feel timeless and classic and not over posed or over edited-artistically she is very talented.”
