As I started to type this little blurb about Kate and Victoria’s Chicago engagement session, I realized I chose to blog their photos exactly six months after their session last October!! What are the odds!? This was one of my favorite sessions from last fall because we went on a full adventure around Andersonville and Uptown to capture photos that were meaningful to their love story and relationship.
We started the engagement shoot by revisiting the places they had their first date (Hopleaf) and their first kiss (the corner of Clark and Leland) which was so special. They grabbed a beer at Hopleaf before I met up with them, which I think is always a good idea to shake any pre-session jitters. A little liquid courage never hurt anybody!! When I got there, the Hopleaf staff were nice enough to let us go out to the back patio to take some photos—even though it was closed for the season!—after Kate and Victoria explained that they had sat out there on their very first date. It was perfect to have the patio to ourselves so they could sip on their beers and tell me all about their first date and wedding dress searches while I snapped away!!
After we recreated their first kiss at Clark and Leland, we also stopped at their apartment to do a few in-home ones and they showed me the deliciousness that is apple cider with whiskey—coming from the girl who thought she didn’t like whiskey! We finished up at Montrose Harbor and took a few in front of the sailboats in the harbor (because Victoria grew up sailing) and wrapped up at the lakefront (after walking through a pack of geese HA) to get some in front of the skyline of the city they fell in love in.
I can not WAIT to capture their elopement in Glacier National Park this June (fingers and toes crossed, please go away by then @coronavirus), but until then scroll on down to see all my favorites from their engagement session.
